The Kids Are All Right

Nic and Jules.
A modern take on family relationship’s, The Kids Are All Right (2010) stars Julianne Moore and Annette Bening as Jules and Nic a married couple with two teenage children, Joni (Mia Wasikowska who played Alice in the recent version of Alice in Wonderland) and Laser (Josh Hutcherson). The two kids conspire to discover the identity of their sperm doning procreator Paul, Mark Ruffalo gives a great under played performance, as he did in 2000’s You Can Count on Me, as the biological father of our inquisitive pair of youngsters. Life would never be the same again for our somewhat unconventional American family!

Directed by Lisa Cholodenko, who also wrote the screenplay with Stuart Blumberg, this movie boasts an outstanding cast that manages to convince the viewer that the on screen relationship is no different from a conventional marriage. This intelligent far-reaching comedy is moving with out being slushy, has a sensitive and meaningful script and is surprisingly entertaining. The story does not preach it just demonstrates the emotional rites of passage every family faces at one time or another. If only Woody Allan could still direct films as good as this
