Lourdes

Waiting for a miracle.
I’m not sure why Lourdes (2010) won The Vienna International Film Festival Prize for Best Film in 2009? I personally found it disappointingly slow, it narrative very obvious and it failed to reach any kind of conclusion.

Jessica Hausner directed and wrote the screen play which tells of a pilgrimage to Lourdes, a small market town lying in the foothills of the Pyrenees, famous for the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes whose spring waters are believed by some to possess healing properties. Among the pilgrims are Christine a multiple sclerosis sufferer and religious sceptic, who in fact travels more for companionship than in hope of a miracle. French actress Sylvie Testud (Vengeance 2009, La Vie en Rose 2007) portrays the wheelchair bound Christine extremely well and is one of the only redeeming factor’s about this film
